Nisab (the "app") is a Zakat calculator and payment tracker. This policy explains what data the app handles. In short: the app has no account system and does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.
Everything you enter — assets, currency, profiles, payment history, plans, and settings — is stored only on your device using the operating system's local storage (AsyncStorage). This data never leaves your phone unless you explicitly export it yourself. We cannot see it and have no access to it.
To show live nisab thresholds, the app fetches current gold and silver
prices from a public pricing service (api.gold-api.com). Those
prices are quoted in US dollars, so when your selected currency is not USD
the app also requests a table of public exchange rates from a second
provider (open.er-api.com) in order to convert them into your
currency.
Neither request contains any personal or financial information — the first asks only for the current metal price, the second only for a list of currency rates. Nothing you enter in the app is ever sent with them. Your device's IP address is visible to these providers as part of any ordinary internet request, and is handled under their own policies.
Both requests are entirely optional. If you never use the Live Nisab feature — or you enter your local gold and silver prices by hand — the app makes no network requests at all. If your device is offline, the app falls back to the last known values, which you can adjust manually.
You can optionally export your data as a JSON backup (which you can import back), a PDF Zakat statement, or a CSV spreadsheet. These files are created on your device and saved wherever you choose — your device storage, or whatever destination you pick from the share sheet. They are entirely under your control; the app does not upload them anywhere.
Anyone with access to an exported file can read the data in it, so keep backups somewhere safe.
If you enable app lock, authentication (Face ID / fingerprint) is handled entirely by your device's operating system. The app never receives or stores your biometric data.
Any reminders are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. No notification data is sent to a server.
The app is a general-purpose finance tool and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect any data from children.
